Physical Ref- Basics

Basic ref for my original species, which is still not named. I'm working on it, okies?

By the by, this is not what they all look like; there are nine subspecies, and this is just a very basic ref so you can get the general anatomy down. This is also where I get to explain their physical weirdness and all that whatnot.

Ears | Yes, their ears have antennae; their purpose is to sense changes in the wind, since that usually means there's a predator nearby, and they evolved from these tiny little quadruped things, so predators were something to be worrying about.

Eyes | Slit pupils, generally triangular and they don't always have visible eyelashes.

Mouth | You can't see them here, but these guys have teeth as sharp as surgical scalpels, shaped like shark teeth but bigger and closer together. Any skin in their mouth at all is thick and coated in a layer of saliva to prevent self-injury. They also have very long, retractable tongues; usually about five or so feet long, black and pointed.

Arms | Now here's where they start looking funky. The upper arm is lean in appearance, no matter how strong it is, but the lower arm has a massive bone structure and is very powerful, capable of locking the fingers in a single position for half an hour without getting tired. you can't tell here because I chose a sucky ref pose, but they do, indeed, have four fingers and a thumb. And claws that aren't retractable; they burst out of the skin as an extention of the bone and have to be snapped off manually before the wound can heal.

Crotch | They don't have any bits like humans do; in fact, virgin females and males look exactly the same as far as crotches go. They don't reproduce like we do, but it'd take too long to explain here, so wait for me to write something up on that.

Legs | Same basic structure as the arms, with the upper portions being skinny and the lower have a large bone structure, except the upper part looks as strong as it is. Three or four toes, depending upon the subspecies.

Tail | Length varies from person to person, but there is always a foot of tail on the ground. The tip cannot be seen because it is covered with hair that keeps it from being torn up from dragging around on the ground all day. One subspecies' tail is completely covered with fur, and there is a rare mutation where the tail has no hair on it at all.

Regarding Sex | There are no clear-set boundries between male and female in this species besides what your crotch does, so many are part one sex and part the other. A good example of this is Quincy; he's 2/5 female and 3/5 male. Also, people able to have babies are much less commen then those who do the impregnanting; 1 of the former for every five of the latter.
